The Selene 4 is a medium lift booster based on the Modular Booster concept. The rocket is being developed for CSTART's CLLARE project. Two Selene 4's will be used for CLLARE, the first will take the lunar lander on a low energy transfer orbit to lunar orbit. The second Selene 4 will take a single astronaut to the Moon where he will rendezvous with the lunar lander. The Selene 4 features three stages. Each stage consists of seven modular boosters that are arrayed around a central booster. The center modular booster has a gimballed nozzle, the outside boosters have fixed nozzles.

After the rocket is proven with a lunar landing it will serve as a low cost medium lift booster for commercial payloads. The revenue generated through this will help fund CSTART.
